With 25 minutes remaining you can tell the heat has really taken its toll on the depleted South corps, which started the match with two open spots on the roster due to players not showing up for the weekend.
Who didn't show up for the South?

High School Soccer Media -
The 2008 North-South Soccer Classic, sponsored by Columbia United FC and hosted by the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association, was held Saturday, June 14 at USC Upstate in Spartanburg.
The girls match wound up 1-1 in a series that the North leads 6-5-1. Lexington's Allie Johns, the North's goal scorer, was tabbed as Most Valuable Player for that squad, while Wando's Olivia Urig, who controlled the midfield for the South squad, was named MVP for her team.
In the boys match, the North continued its dominance in the series with a 3-1 victory. That victory pushed the North's lead to 13-5-2 in the 20th anniversary of this event for Palmetto State prep soccer. Fort Mill's Eric Fielden, who scored the match-winning goal, and Chris Dixon (Myrtle Beach) of the South squad, who motored all over the midfield this afternoon, were selected as the MVPs.
Thanks to STANNO for supplying the uniforms, USC Upstate for its outstanding generosity and assistance for hosting the Classic, and to Columbia United FC for their financial support that recognizes more than 70 of South Carolina's top senior soccer players and eight coaches annually!

From today's Rock Hill Herald:
PREP SOCCER -- In Spartanburg, the North boys picked up their 13th win in the 20-year history of the North-South Soccer Classic, with four Herald-area players playing major rolls in the 3-1 win.
Fort Mill High School twins Ryan Fielden and Eric Fielden each scored, with Ryan Fielden picking up the first goal of the game on an assist from Northwestern's Corey Parks. After the South tied the contest, Eric Fielden scored what would prove to be the game-winner in the 41st minute. South Pointe's Garrett Keogh added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute. Eric Fielden was named the North's MVP.
On the girls' side, the squads played to a 1-1 tie. Clover's Ashley Hollander and Britta Widenhouse and Fort Mill's Ashleigh Sheets were on the roster for the North, which was co-coached by Clover's Leeann Mellon.
**************************************************
Great day for Fort Mill with the Fielden twins and Ashleigh Sheets playing so well.
Great day for Newberry College with recruits Allie Johns and Ryan Fielden both getting goals.

Sean Flynn's father informed us last week that he would not be in attendance at the North-South Soccer Classic. Fortunately, we were able to place another deserving player on the roster in his stead.
