Happy New Year!
The Palmetto State prep soccer season is rapidly approaching and SCSoccer.com is your home for all of the happenings in South Carolina high school soccer.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of SCSoccer.com's internet presence and 16th overall as the printed publication known as Kickin' Around (1993-98) has evolved into a web destination that registered nearly 30 million hits in 2007. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of the past and welcome to all newcomers!
Along with the popular Message Board, Scoreboard, and Archives, SCSoccer.com will be rolling out some new features during the preseason that we believe the coaches, players, referees, and fans will all enjoy.
If you have any suggestions, please feel free to drop us a line at SCSoccer.com.
The 2008 season promises to be one of the best ever in South Carolina so be sure to bookmark the website for the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Time Flies -
Wow! ... Time sure does fly when you are having fun! ... Old timers (sorry
for the dig folks) will remember Kickin' Around, which originated
in 1993 and was printed on a weekly basis through 1998, as a 1-2-3 page
newsletter ... It was modeled after a couple of nearby state newsletters -- Ray
Alley's Southern Soccer Scene and Dale Terry's Georgia Soccer
Scene -- and eventually morphed into
SCSoccer.com online in 1999 ... The growth of Palmetto State youth soccer and
more directly high school soccer since the mid-1990s has been tremendous and
hopefully this website has played a small part in that movement ... Keep
kicking!
NSCAA
Convention -
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America will hold
its Annual Convention January
16-20 in Baltimore, Maryland, and SCSoccer.com will be in attendance and will
provide a first-hand report next week.
SCHSSCA
Winter Clinic -
The 12th
Annual Winter Clinic, sponsored by the SCHSSCA, will be held January 25-26
in Columbia ... Friday's classroom sessions will take place at the Clarion Town
House Hotel while Saturday's on-field sessions will be performed at The Plex in
northeast Columbia by Ralph Lundy and Troy Lesesne with the College of
Charleston.
Submit

Scoreboard frequently during the upcoming weeks in preparation for the
spring season ... All addresses and phone numbers listed in the SCHSL Directory
have been updated ... As of January 14, 2007 more than 4,200 matches have been
entered ... Also, please note any coaching changes that you are aware of so that
we can update that information as well.
Preseason
Rankings -
Coaches, be sure to send your Preseason Rankings to SCSoccer.com
by Sunday, January 20 ... The class rankings will be released at the Winter
Clinic ... For a standard reporting feature, please utilize this form.
Super XI -
In
celebrating 15 years of covering Palmetto State prep soccer, SCSoccer.com is
seeking the input from coaches, players, and fans on just who are the best 11
players you have seen during this time span ... Current players of the 2008
season are not eligible ... The breakdown is as follows: 1 Goalkeeper; 3
Defenders; 4 Midfielders; and 3 Forwards ... The deadline is Sunday, January 20,
2008 and you can e-mail your nominations to SCSoccer.com.
Collegiate
Carousel -
Clemson has a new women's coach and Wofford has a new men's coach
... The Tigers will be led by Hershey
Strosberg, who was an assistant coach with the University of Virginia
program the past seven years ... Ralph
Polson, a long time fixture in Palmetto State college soccer, has taken over
the reigns at Wofford after spending the past eight seasons at the College of
Charleston ... Prior to that stint in the Port City, the Erskine College alum
directed the Presbyterian College men's program for 17 years.
USC Advanced
Skills Camp -
The University of South Carolina will offer
an Advanced
Skills Camp for boys and girls high school players and teams January 19-20.
